Contentedly dreaming

Here are some photo's I took this morning. My dream is to be able to take dreamy pictures like Yvette Inufio, she is my inspiration at the moment. Hopefully if I keep practising and learning I'll get there someday. I'm busy reading "eat, pray, love" by Elizabeth Gilbert at the moment. I'm very much enjoying it, there's lots of simple wisdom about life and love, and it's all interspersed with a lovely, warm humour. It's a book I've been wanting to read for ages, and I found a copy the other day in the second hand book store. New books are outrageously expensive over here. Anyway, I found it at the right time, because it's what I need to hear right now, it's very soul warming.

I searched, but no one else had your rhythms

I don't know where time has gone, it seems that the last week has gone past so quickly and I can't believe that we're already almost half way through 2009! It was my birthday earlier this week, I kept it pretty much low key, went out for dinner with family and friends, it was really nice and I was VERY spoilt, for my birthday present I got a Nikon D60 and I was just about delirious with excitement, I wasn't expecting it. Tomorrow morning I will be up at the crack of dawn to go on a photography expedition with my photography class to the botanical gardens. I'm looking forward to it, although not to getting up at 5.00am, it will be very cold and dark brrrrr.....The first pic below I took with my new camera, I enjoy doing stil llifes, and flowers, I have a loooooong way to go to improve, but I'm totally enjoying the journey:) Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I've drunk too much, said too much, can we go home now?

I don't know where this week has gone...scary. The weather has turned and Winter has arrived, it's really quite cold now....brrrrr. Here are some of the pictures and quotes inspiring me today.

I am only human

I have a complete photographer crush on the work of Elif Karacoc. These photographs are sheer heaven, dreamy and ethereal. Oh I am in love! (via We Heart It)

Sometimes I feel fragile, fragmented

as if there is no moon in my sky

I don't know what it is that I so fiercely desire

only that I am trying to breathe under water, I long for clarity, but everything seems opaque and I cannot see what lies in front of me

I feel asleep, my world is an endless dream, there is no memory and no forgetting

I crave the freedom of open spaces

I want to dance under the wide open sky, and listen to the call of the birds in the dying afternoon light.

I love this vintage photo, it's one of my favourites, her beauty is so elegant and timeless.

How cute is this illustration by Katrine K? I love how the artist has included the wallpaper design in the background.

And these works by Japanese artist Ayco are so beautiful, there is a wonderful fragility about them.

And finally, this photo was me messing around earlier today.

I will wait for you forever

Even if life is good, I think it's still important to have the space to dream. No matter how far away or impossible your dreams might seem now, who knows what the future will bring. Dreams help to keep your hopes alive. When you're caught up in the impossible speed of day to life, and many of your hours are fulled with paperclips, fluorescent lights, dirty socks and barking dogs, it's easy to forget your inner hopes and desires. Your dreams help you stay true to yourself, to remember who you are, and what you want for your life.

This beautiful editorial reminded me of a dream I used to have about running off to live with the hippies, I imagined a world without deadlines, or offices or places to be at on time. I'd live in a community of love and integrity, grow my own vegetables, and weave garlands of flowers for my hair. I am a hopeless romantic, but my idealism (mostly) is tempered with a healthy dose of reality so I never did decide to run off and join the hippies, I reckon that living in a teepee might be fun for....well, about a day, and the hippies I came across always seemed to live a pretty much hand to mouth existence, living off their arts and crafts and tye dye T-shirts. That dream has changed.....I'd still like to be able to drop out for a couple of months at some stage, do a bit of travelling, maybe live for a while in a remote beach cottage......but definitely no hippies involved.
